Geisha in Shizuoka! : The Grace and Tradition

Did you know you can enjoy Geisha dance not only in Kyoto, but also in other parts of Japan? Shizuoka/Shimizu is one of them!

Geisha in Shimizu are called 'Shimizu Geigi.' In the Edo period (1603-1868), Shimizu developed into a bustling port city, and the Geisha culture started at that time. After World War II, the first Geisha school in Japan was established here as well.

The Geisha culture has become smaller than it used to be due to the changes in times. However, it remains a significant Japanese tradition to hand down to future generations, and its grace continues to shine just as beautifully as it did in the past.

Since Geisha are professional entertainers, the atmosphere they create is captivating. Of course, their dance is graceful and elegant, but playing games with them is also a very enjoyable experience. What's more, they are very friendly, down-to-earth, and yet elegant!

I cannot wait to show them to you in Shizuoka!
