1. Sumpu Castle Park
Sumpu Castle Park is just a short 15-minute stroll from Shizuoka Station – a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The park has cherry trees along the moat and throughout, making it a favorite for locals. The park is a lovely spot where people enjoy hanami picnics under the blossoms. Another great way to enjoy the cherry blossoms is by taking a boat ride on the moat, where you can relax and admire the beautiful flowers from the water.
2. Nihondaira Plateau

Nihondaira Plateau is located 15 minutes from Shimizu Port and 40 minutes from Shizuoka Station by car. The view from there has been cherished for centuries, offering a panoramic sight of all of Shizuoka, from the sea to the mountains. In particular, the view of Mount Fuji across Suruga Bay is truly stunning. During spring, the cherry blossoms bloom in full glory all across the plateau. The parkway leading to the top becomes a tunnel of cherry blossoms, creating a romantic atmosphere.
3. FujiSan Hongu SengenTaisha Shrine
A one-hour train ride from the Shizuoka and Shimizu area takes you to a historic shrine that enshrines the majestic Mount Fuji. The sacred trees of the Sengentaisha Shrine are cherry blossoms. One of the most impressive sights is the large weeping cherry tree, or shizare-zakura, its blossoms flowing from the branches in a beautiful display. This is a truly Japanese place, where the beauty of cherry blossoms, the serenity of the shrine, and the grandeur of Mount Fuji all come together. Be sure to visit this unforgettable spot!
